EAEY (Empower African and European youth!) is first and foremost a meeting and an exchange between young Esperantists from Europe and Africa. Workshops to acquire new knowledge, trainings and group work will be organised during four meetings (in Benin, Italy, Togo and Poland). Experienced trainers participate in the project and all results (documents, advice, tools, etc.) of these meetings will be made available on our website and through an Android application realised within the project. Thanks to Esperanto, the common language of the participants, TEJO proposes this project about informal education. The resources are freely available, do not hesitate to use them for your projects.
Project results
One of the main results of the EAEY project is an Android application with useful information for trainers:
The participants of the EAEY project learned how to become trainers, so they had to organise a training themselves. Then they wrote a summary of the trainings after they conducted them. These summaries are available here.
What do the participants think?
We asked a few people who participated in the meetings what they think about the project. Here are their answers.
Why did you decide to participate in the EAEY project?
Two main things interested me, which is why I decided to participate to this project. The first one is “empowering” young people, which aims to train these young people and help them become good trainers. The second one is the collaboration between two important continents, Africa and Europe. I found this very interesting becaue it is a great opportunity for us to learn about each other’s cultures.
Cyprien (Benin)
What memories do you have about your meeting with other EAEY participant?
I remember good and helpful people. They were from other cultures, but this did not matter, because they were very curious and open. I did good work with them during the training. I felt we were a real team.
Iwona (Poland)
I really enjoyed the collaboration with the four other trainers, we worked effectively and enthusiastically. I was also pleasantly surprised by the participants’ quality and willingness to work, they were all completely invested, they delivered good trainings and learned a lot during the week.
Rogier (Netherlands)
Are you planning to apply the knowledge you acquired during the project? If yes, in what context?
Yes, I indend to use it in the Esperanto world to help people who, like me, want to improve the movement, as well as outside of Esperanto to share knowledge through more effective methods. I will do this in social projects a well as professionally.
Carlos (Spain)
I really inted to apply the knowledge I acquired during the project.
